Dairy Science Department at ADSA'05

The Dairy Science department was well represented at the 2005 Joint Annual Meeting of the American Dairy Science Association, American Society for Animal Science, and Canadian Society of Animal Science. The meeting was held in Cincinnati, OH from 24-28 July. Twelve faculty and students participated along with many former SDSU Dairy Science students. Faculty and students together presented a total of 12 research papers at the meeting. In addition, Dr. Dave Schingoethe was past president, Dr. Dave Henning served as a judge for various ADSA-Student Affiliate Division activities, and Dr. Vikram Mistry was elected Member at Large for the Dairy Foods Division. Dr. Arnold Hippen served as Chair for a scientific session.

Alumni also received recognition. Dr. Jeff DeFrain Ph.D'04 received the Richard M. Hoyt award in recognition of work he did at SDSU for his Ph.D. Dr. Bob Roberts, M.S.'86 and currently a Food Science professor at the Pennsylvania State University was elected Director of ADSA and Dr. Lloyd Metzger, B.S.'92, M.S.'94 received the ADSA Foundation Scholar Award in Dairy Foods. He is presently Assistant Professor in Food Science at the University of Minnesota and Director of the MN-SD Dairy Foods Research Center.
