South Dakota Dairy Princess

Ana Schweer, a Dairy Production freshman, was named from among eight contestants the South Dakota Dairy Princess for 2009 at the Central Plains Dairy Expo on 1st April. Ana, a native of Watertown, SD, has been very active in 4-H dairy showmanship, Girls State and high school orchestra. She has been in the National Honor Society and is currently in the SDSU Civic Symphony and a member of the SDSU Dairy and Pre-Vet Clubs. Ana's mother Diane, also a Dairy Science graduate, was South Dakota Dairy Princess in 1981. In her new role Ana will promote the dairy industry of the state throughout the year. She takes over this role from Stephanie Nussbaum, a Dairy Production major, who was Dairy Princess in 2008. First runner up at the contest was Larissa Neugebauer. She plans on attending SDSU majoring in Dairy Science begining in fall'09.
