National Dairy Promotion and Research Board Scholarships

Eight dairy science students have won scholarships for the 2006-2007 academic year from the National Dairy Promotion and Research Board. Kari Gorsuch of Arlington; Peter Beck of Princeton, MN, Tori Boomgaarden of Pipestone, MN, Richard DeRouchey of Mitchell, Jonah King of Volga, Jenna Mueller of Big Stone City, and Abigail Wirt of Lewiston, MN, each won a $1,500 scholarship and Ryan Tollefsrud of Murdock, MN won the James H. Loper Jr. award of $2,500. The National Dairy Promotion and Research Board each year awards up to 19 $1,500 scholarships and one James H. Loper award to eligible undergraduate students enrolled in college or university programs in the US that emphasize dairy science.

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of academic performance; coursework related to dairy; commitment to a career in dairy; involvement in extra-curricular activities, especially those related to dairy; and leadership ability, initiative, character, and integrity.
