National Dairy Promotion and Research Board Scholarships

Seven dairy science students have been named as recipients of the 2007-2008 National Dairy Promotion and Research Board scholarships. Peter Beck of Princeton, MN, Tori Boomgaarden of Pipestone, MN, Jared DeNobel of Hills, MN, Jenna Mueller of Big Stone City, Eric Schultz of Rollingstone, MN, and Ryan Tollefsrud of Murdock, MN, have each been awarded a $1,500 scholarship. In addition, Abigail Wirt of Lewiston, MN has been awarded the James H. Loper Jr. Memorial Scholarship of $2,500. On behalf of the dairy farmers of America, the National Dairy Promotion and Research Board each year awards nationwide up to 19 $1,500 scholarships and one James H. Loper award to eligible undergraduate students enrolled in college or university programs in the US that emphasize dairy science.

Recipients are selected on the basis of academic performance; coursework related to dairy; commitment to a career in dairy; involvement in extra-curricular activities, especially those related to dairy; and leadership ability, initiative, character, and integrity.
