National Dairy Promotion and Research Board Scholarships

Seven dairy science students have been named as recipients of the 2008-2009 National Dairy Promotion and Research Board scholarships. Recipients include Jared DeNobel of Hills, MN, Heather Jons of Bonesteel, SD, Melissa Lax of Sleepy Eye, MN, Rachel Patrick of Eatonton, GA, Nicole Stevens of Pipestone, MN, Samantha Wahls of Postville, IA, and Abigail Wirt of Lewiston, MN. On behalf of the dairy farmers of America, the National Dairy Promotion and Research Board each year awards nationwide up to 19 $1,500 scholarships and one James H. Loper award to eligible undergraduate students enrolled in college or university programs in the US that emphasize dairy science.

Recipients are selected on the basis of academic performance; coursework related to dairy; commitment to a career in dairy; involvement in extra-curricular activities, especially those related to dairy; and leadership ability, initiative, character, and integrity.
