Dairy Science Students Excel in National Events

Fall 2008 has been particularly noteworthy for Dairy Science students. Students have participated in numerous professional events and emerged on top. Click on the name below for details on each student/event:

Megan Rice, Freshman Dairy Manufacturing and Production major received a National Proficiencey Award in Dairy Production at the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis.

Valerie Mohr, Freshman Dairy Production major placed first nationally in the 4-H event at the World Dairy Expo in Madison, WI

Dairy Products Judging team placed first in the national collegiate contest that was held in Newark, OH in October. Team member, Abigail Wirt placed first among all undergraduate students nationally, and Vandana Panchal placed first among graduate students.

Dairy Cattle Judging teams participated in two contests in the fall, the Accelerated Genetics contest in Viroqua, WI, and the National Collegiate Contest in Madison, WI.

National Dairy Promotion and Research Board scholarships were awarded to seven Dairy Science students. Of the 19 scholarships nationwide, 7 were awarded to SDSU Dairy Science students.
